Visiting the Oslo Opera House
As an interior architect, I love traveling the world and seeing some of my favorite buildings in person. When I visited Oslo, Norway I finally got to see Snøhetta Design's Oslo Opera House which was completed in 2008. It features a silhouette that mimics a glacier penetrating the water along the pier. The shape of the building is comprised of alternating angles that remind me of switchback trails going up a mountain. As such, it's no wonder that the design of the building encourages people to walk up the paths all the way to the summit, or roof of the building for beautiful views of the ocean and city. The Opera House slopes gently into the water where you can see locals and tourists alike lounging by the water's edge. If you ever get the chance to visit Norway, the Oslo Opera House is a must see!
