Do you ever feel like it's hard to dress fashionably during the winter when you have to layer a ton to keep warm? I feel the same way. When I'm feeling extra lazy, I find myself just recycling the same tried and true items over and over again because I don't feel like venturing out of my comfort zone. For me, one of the best ways to get out of a winter fashion funk is to make a statement with a faux fur coat. 

When I got this faux fur coat from Sonia by Sonia Rykiel, I knew my winter wardrobe was getting a major face lift! I've been a long time fan of the designer, as you can see in this outfit here. Whether it be knitwear, a dress, or a jacket, each of her pieces are statement pieces in their own right, with interesting silhouettes, unexpected details, and oh-so-cool French vibes. Sonia Rykiel, or the "Queen of Knitwear," never disappoints.

Faux fur coats have been a major trend this winter and this one is easily my new favorite. I love the blush pink color, the crazy soft faux fur, and the accent black stripe across the back. A colorful coat like this one not only chases the winter blues away but really brings a pop to your outfit. Let your faux fur coat make the statement and opt for muted tones, or even all-black for the rest of your outfit.

For a seamless look, I opted for all-black pieces. I paired my coat with a French beret (because berets have been the IT accessory this fall and winter), a mock-kneck sweater (also worn here), high-waisted shorts, thermal tights (because it's so darn cold in NYC), my favorite backpack I've been carrying all winter (also worn here), and these amazing patent leather Chelsea boots by Santoni. For all you ladies who feel hesitant about patent leather (I used to be this way), patent leather is so amazing and makes you feel even more badass.
