Salvation Mountain
On our road trip back to Los Angeles we made a mandatory stop at Salvation Mountain by Leonard Knight. I had been wanting to visit this place for years, and was ecstatic to finally see it in person. I absolutely love how his quirky and colorful imagination was brought to life. It's truly an oasis in the middle of a desert.
The sculptural installation is a beautiful testament to one man's love for his God and his passion to share that love to the world. No matter your religious leanings, there's something to be said about allowing your beliefs to paint the world (pun intended) with positivity and leave the world a better and brighter place for it. In a world where peoples' faiths brings contention and strife between groups of people, my wholehearted wish is that we could respect each other's beliefs and let love bring us together rather than apart.
I chose this striped crop top and skirt set from Tobi because I felt like it would blend perfectly with Salvation Mountain. The breezy skirt really helps beat the heat, and the open sandals keep my feet cool. And a large-brimmed hat is a MUST for how hot the desert is here. Never neglect protecting your skin from sun damage!
When thinking about appropriate outfits for your travel destinations, definitely take time to look up the forecast beforehand and search for images of the place. I always pick my outfits with these two things in mind. Planning a set number of outfits while adding a few basics (for options) really helps reduce my overall luggage. Plus, it gives me more time to just focus on enjoying the new sites rather than worrying about what to wear. More front-end work for ease of travel later on. What are your travel outfit tips? I'd love to know!
